Noldorath Forest -
Living and working in nature
Living in Nature and in Community.
Would you like to live and work in native forest? Would you like to
not have to spray poisons nor bulldoze the native vegetation in your daily work? Would you
like to help establish a sense of community with others like minded?
I would like to share my land with like minded people, and give opportunity to reconnect with Mother Nature on a day to day basis. This can be a very healing experience, especially if your daily meditation is one of cultivating wonder and delight in the beauty of Nature. This helps to develop absorption into meditation instead of electronic screen entertainment. In this way we can access the full healing power of time spent with “the ancient mother”, the one from whom all life springs, however you conceive of the Source of healing, inspiration and good will.
Modern urban life is, unfortunately, quite alienated from Nature. And with each dwelling self contained for the basic essentials, people are often alienated from a sense of community. Perhaps this is a cause of many of the illnesses of our times, quite unknown to primitive
tribal life before the white man came.
I would like to give people an opportunity to restore what is really important in life, rather than just follow the habits created from having electricity and water “on tap”, surrounded
by man made walls.
Since there is little opportunity for paid work for newcomers to rural areas, you can just join me in the daily work to develop this land into a good place for people to live in. No wages, no rent nor mortgage repayments. I have prepared some material on the economics you will face here,
under “The Work.”
You will need to be reasonably strong and fit; the average strength of a healthy young man, or strong young woman.
Living in the forest, with good food, will help maintain good health.
Establishing a New Community.
People need to come together to create community. Noldorath has not yet started as a community – we are still waiting for people to come here.
Would you like to help get it started? You will need to be a pioneer – take initiative and move into new areas so others can follow. Remember, the people who get in first have the first say on how things will develop.
Location :
SE Queensland, in the hills 80 km from the coast and Bundaberg
Natural and Man-Made Amenity Here.
My land (400m X 500m = 20ha) is a very secluded valley, of gentle and moderate slopes, and fully forested throughout, long unburnt. These native trees are of mature height, naturally spaced,
with beautiful forest walks. Birds and wildlife abound. No buildings are visible.
It has several sites suitable for setting up your shelter. Each is quite secluded and not visible from other sites. Most are 2-WD accessible. (details on "Possible Accommodation")
20 x 40 meters of the land has been cleared of all tree roots for vegies and orchard. There are 2 dams, with pump and pipes to the garden site and a new steel rainwater tank filled from new steel
roofing, kept carefully clean. There is a landline phone (4157 6146) and satellite internet on site, and I can give lifts to shops
The property is not connected to the electricity grid.
My land is 20 km along sealed roads from Gin Gin, which has a market each Saturday morning, good for fruit and veg shopping. Gin Gin is on the Brisbane to Cairns bus route,
and I can pick up from there.
I will also operate a holiday cabin rental business here.
A Spiritual Foundation.
Of the various places I have lived in over the decades, I found the Buddhist monastery to have the best sense of community. It had a clearly defined spiritual basis, and people went there for
it. It was also in good quality native forest, and had a proper water supply, kitchen and toilet system.
So I believe these amenities are important to a successful rural community. I am not a religious man, nor do I want to limit my recruits to those of one particular religious persuasion. Nor do I want any pressure put on people to submit to a particular religious belief system.
Instead, I offer people an opportunity to learn and practice established modalities related to spirituality, healing, and appreciation of Nature. If we gather together each day to share such beautiful things, we have a better chance of succeeding as an inspired community.
I am willing to provide some leadership in the modalities that I have practiced over the
decades. Leaders can be in the firing line at times, and this can make it a bit scary.
But when we approach the learning/teaching environment with respect, it
makes everything so much easier. In this way, I hope you will also be willing to
share what you have learned by the way of spirituality, health and appreciation
of Nature. Experience in teaching is not really needed.
I am most proficient in meditation, and I have developed a forest meditation especially for this environment that I prefer. The purpose of this forest meditation is to better enjoy the forest, and to better enjoy whatever peace and quiet that can come to you in the session.
But if you would like to become a meditation student, with at least some determination to become a meditation adept like me, then you need to know what the long term objective of this meditation is.
For this meditation is rooted in Buddhist philosophy, from my extensive background in that religion. So the ultimate goal of my meditation is to restore, renew and return to the enlightened state, as much as you can, as often as you can whenever you can in your daily life.
Because much confusion surrounds spiritual enlightenment, I have prepared a treatise to define it and the related theory needed to restore the enlightened state into normal daily life (read my page on “Healing and Spiritual Enlightenment.)
Over the decades I have also practised –
- Music
- Nourishing meals
- Massage therapy
- Tai Chi.

Intoxicants and Healing.
From my Buddhist training, I learned long ago that the more one leans towards drugs and alcohol, the more one leans away from healing and spiritual practice. For this reason, we’re not supposed to take intoxicants to monasteries and ashrams, and we don’t go to meditation or yoga meetings when drunk.
I don't like tobacco, nor drugs, nor alcohol, and I invite you to come to a clean place. So I request you to –
Please bring no drugs nor alcohol to my land.
For smokers, if you really want to cut back, with some intention to quit, then you are most welcome here.
Chemicals. My land is quite free from chemical contamination. Details on the page “No Chemicals.”
Length of Stay Available. Stay for a week or so. If you suit Noldorath and Noldorath suits you, then your stay can be extended for weeks, months or even years. The guiding principle is this ---
"Being willing and able to maintain good relationships”
“No harmful expression of Anger.”
Labour Contribution.
Work with me to develop the land, instead of paying rent in dollars. This is unwaged work, to give you access to my land which is valued at $160, 000.
You don’t have to work full time on projects that I set. Rather, I encourage people to work without rush, with diligence, and when energy is available.
Forest work is often heavy, I will appreciate some help from fit and strong people. You do not need the strength of a young man who does heavy manual labour, just a reasonable level of fitness and strength.
